Questions about your addons
Hello,
I have just found your community and your addons. I am interested in 3 of them:
- Profile completion: is there a way to force members to fill out my custom profile fields? (that's a module that was recently added to fc)
- Youtube Widget: where exactly on the home screen does the video appear? Is there a way to not link it to a youtube channel, but a selection of rotating videos instead (that aren't part of a playlist)?
- Blog module: could I create and stylise my blog from your addon, or should I only import a blog already made on wp? Because I struggle understanding how to make a blog on wp, or even just articles.
How much does your app cost? To what extent is it customizable (besides the menu links)?
Besides, do you work on commission?
Best!
Hey Anne-Sophie — replied in PM with the longer version, but answering here too so others bumping into the same questions get the info. Going in order:
Profile Completion — forcing custom profile fields Quick clarification: Fluent Community's custom profile fields can already be marked required at signup natively in FC — users have to fill them in to register, no add-on needed. Our app fully supports that, including the required-status enforcement at signup.
What the Profile Completion add-on covers is the gap FC can't handle at signup — avatar, cover photo, bio (Fluent doesn't let you mark those required during registration). So if existing members slipped through without them, Profile Completion gates app access until they're filled. Configurable per field in WP admin, hard gate — no navigating around it.
Short version: required custom fields → FC handles it natively. Avatar / cover / bio enforcement → Profile Completion.
YouTube Widget — where it shows and rotating videos On the home screen it renders as a hero card with the latest video from your YouTube channel — thumbnail, title, date, play button, plays inline on tap (no leaving the home screen). The "See All" link opens the full YouTube screen with the rest of your channel videos and any playlists.
Currently the widget always pulls the most recent upload, so it "rotates" naturally as you publish new content. A random pick from a curated pool of specific videos isn't a built-in option today, but it's a good idea — happy to put it on the roadmap.
Blog module — creating vs importing Worth zooming out on this one: blogging on your site isn't really a Fluent thing or an app-addon thing — it's a core WordPress feature. WordPress's built-in Posts editor (WP Admin → Posts → Add New) is where blog posts get created, and the website styling comes from whatever WordPress theme you're using.
Our Blog add-on surfaces those existing WordPress posts inside the app with a native blog UI — featured image hero, categories, author, full content, and commenting. So the workflow is: write posts in WordPress, the app pulls them in and presents them nicely on mobile.
Price, ownership, and customization The dev bundle is $500 — and this is the part worth dwelling on, because it's where we differ from basically everyone else in this space. You get the entire codebase. Even places that claim to offer "developer access" to their app (BuddyBoss, etc.) don't actually hand you the full source code — they give you scaffolding, a few hooks, a child theme equivalent. With our dev bundle, this is it. You can rewrite anything, build whatever you can think of, and the app is architected around a module system specifically to make customization clean — drop new modules in without touching core.
Customization-wise: on the dev bundle you can rewrite literally anything (it's React Native / Expo, fully yours). Even without touching code, you can configure widgets, branding, theme colors, tab layout, and feature toggles from WP admin.
We do also offer a managed route for folks who don't want to touch builds at all — and to be clear, that still means you own the app outright. We just handle the builds and submissions to your Apple and Google accounts; the app lives on your accounts and the source code is yours. We only onboard a few new managed clients a month, though — our main offering is the full source for folks who want to run it themselves.
Honestly that's the whole point of what we're building — think of it as a hidden gem for the people who actually want control over their app. If that matters to you, that's what we're about.
On custom work / commission — we don't take custom build jobs. We focus on the core product, the add-ons, and supporting our buyers. If there's a feature gap you spot, we're happy to consider it for the roadmap.

Thank you very much James!! Highly appreciated!!! :))) Continuing this conversation publicly in case people might have similar questions:
Does your profile addon spot fake bios, for instance "feiojfeketnervkrvenur"? Lots of people just write random stuff just because they must reach a certain character quotas.
I'd also love to have the option to rotate videos that have been posted natively within the community.
Blogs on WP certainly are a headache...I couldn't integrate any article into my community.
In your private message though you did write "Commission work — yes, happy to do custom builds on top of the dev bundle. Send me what you have in mind and I'll quote it." which contradicts what the end of your message here says. Should I go on and ask for a quote?
I'm quite busy at the moment but I'll certainly dive into your products soon! Thank you!
