A free plugin for Fluent Community sites: sign in as any member from their profile, and switch back from the header.

Switch user, on the profile

The free User Switching plugin from WordPress.org lets an admin sign in as another user and back again, but its buttons live in WP Admin and the toolbar, and the Fluent Community portal hides the toolbar. This plugin puts a Switch user button on member profiles. Click it and you land on the same profile, signed in as them, so you see the portal exactly as they do.

Switch back, from the header

While you are switched, a Switch back button sits in the portal header on every page. One click returns you to your own account on the page you were on. Hover it to see whose account that is.

Nothing to set up

User Switching keeps every permission check and cookie, so the rules match WP Admin: on a standard site only administrators can switch, and members never see a button. The plugin's Overview page shows whether User Switching is active and installs it for you if it isn't.

What you need

  • Fluent Community, free or Pro
  • User Switching, free from WordPress.org
  • A free licence key from our store, which turns the buttons on and brings updates

It's free: https://www.twobirdscode.com/blog/item/tbc-web-user-switching/

If you also run our TBC Community App, the app shows no switch buttons. This one is for the website.

Introducing User Switching for Fluent Community, a free plugin

Ten add-ons updated alongside Core 1.3.15. Update them from Plugins in WP Admin; each brings its app module along at the same version.

Every one of them gains the shared help ?: the paragraphs that used to sit beside each control are behind it now, the same affordance on every plugin. Warnings, legal text and anything describing what's currently set stay visible.

  • Automations 1.1.6 — recipe notifications are this plugin's own push type now, named and badged as yours, and they only appear on sites that have it. A push finally opens what the recipe pointed it at, rather than always landing on the notifications list. Course ID tokens resolve, and a course opens as a course. Spanish, Greek and Dutch for the strings members read. Update this one before, or with, the app plugin.
  • Better Messages 1.0.7 — a socket transport with polling fallback, checked against the relay's own wire format, and pushes that survive moderation on realtime sites. The composer knows every reason it might be closed and says which.
  • Profile Completion 1.7.7 — the completion gate is enforced by the server now, not just hidden in the app, after a bot signed up and walked the member directory through the API. Blocked Numbers takes country-code prefixes, and the website overlay is translatable, shipping Spanish, Greek and Dutch.
  • Message Roles 1.8.6 — role lists narrow Fluent Community's own verdict instead of replacing it, and the Enable checkbox saves properly.
  • YouTube 1.1.19, Cart 1.1.8, Multi Reactions 1.0.16, GamiPress 1.0.10, Banners 1.1.7, Admin Columns 1.1.5 — the shared help ?, and the app-side polish that rides with Core 1.3.15.

The app-side changes arrive with Core 1.3.15's next build.

Six add-ons updated alongside Core 1.3.14. Update them from Plugins in WP Admin; each brings its app module along at the same version.

  • YouTube 1.1.18 — video and playlist lists open on placeholders instead of a spinner; a failed bookmark save shows a brief notice; thumbnails never flash another video's picture on a fast scroll.
  • Profile Completion 1.7.6 — every field on the completion steps uses the app's own inputs, with its caret, selection colour and keyboard styling.
  • Multi Reactions 1.0.15 — the who-reacted list opens on placeholders.
  • GamiPress 1.0.9 — the achievements grid opens on placeholders.
  • Better Messages 1.0.6 — the License panel's Activate button works again (it was posting where nothing listened), and the plugin activates beside either edition of Better Messages, free or the standalone WebSocket build. In the app, failed sends show as a brief notice and the composer uses the app's own input.
  • Automations 1.1.5 — a "create post" action the site refuses fails just that action instead of stopping the whole run.

The app-side changes ride along with Core 1.3.14's next build.

YouTube 1.1.16 is the big one:

  • The home widget draws four ways — carousel, compact list, browse tiles, hero card
  • Hand-pick exactly which videos appear, with your own title, thumbnail and accent
  • Tapping a small card opens the video on its own screen, with room to read
  • The Widget Screens builder previews your real videos while you arrange them

Also out: GamiPress 1.0.8 (rank messages render properly; the leaderboard stops exposing an ordering field) · Banners 1.1.6 · Multi Reactions 1.0.13 · Profile Completion 1.7.5 · Cart 1.1.7 · Better Messages 1.0.4 · Message Roles 1.8.5 · Automations 1.1.4 · Admin Columns 1.1.4

All of them picked up the shared admin work, including Hide sensitive — one button that covers credentials on screen before you share it or screenshot it.

Available now on your Plugins screen.

A small maintenance release for Profile Completion.

The Save bar no longer depends on JavaScript. The floating Save pill only appeared once JavaScript had run, which could leave an admin settings form with no reachable submit button at all. There's now a plain fallback submit that always works.

"Unsaved changes" stops interrupting a save in progress. The post-submit latch cleared after 4 seconds, so on a slower save the warning would reappear mid-flight and swallow the "Saved" confirmation. That window is now 20 seconds.
